2015 FARA Race of Champions
The 2015 FARA Race of Champions in Homestead Miami Speedway was another very successful race weekend for Gryphon Racing.
After qualifying 4th in the overall rankings, we knew that we had our work cut out for us. The weather conditions were also ever changing and we knew that it would be a very interesting 3 Hour endurance race. Robert Haub and Danny Van Dongen our two factory drivers who they had to deliver. Winning this race would not only mean the overall win of the 2015 FARA Race of Champions, but also winning the 2015 FARA Endurance Championship. The strategy that was chosen by the team was that Robert Haub would start the race, Danny Van Dongen would drive the middle part and Robert would finish the race. Robert Haub had a great start to the race, quickly moving into second position in the first lap. As the race commenced we were fighting hard with the competition trying to get ahead into first place. After the first of two mandatory pitstops Danny continued to hold the second position until the final pitstop. It was now up to Robert to finish and hopefully win the race and championship. After a mechanical failure by the leading car forced him to retire in the pits, we who we only had to finish the race to become champions. With a three lap advantage Robert managed to bring the car home into first place to win the FARA Triple Crown; First place in its FP-1 Class, First in Overall Standings, and Winning the 2015 FARA Endurance Championship. To date this is the most successful achievement Gryphon Racing has had in its young racing career.
Special thanks to the whole team of Gryphon Racing and all its supporters for a great and very successful 2015 season.
